Mylo is 8 months old today, and also had his 8 month appointment with Dr. Shearer. His percentiles are: 75% for his head circumference; 60% for his weight which is an even 20 lbs.; and 70% for his height at 28 1/4 inches. He didn’t get any shots today, and I’m sure he would have been happy had he known there was a danger of getting stuck! Mylo has been consistently above the 50% percentile, and is sticking to that trend. Dr. Shearer said he’s right on track, developmentally.
Since he’s reached 20lbs., it’s time for a new car seat. We have to find one that begins rear-facing, and can turn forward once he reaches 1 year. I’m starting to feel like he’s growing up too fast, and I think Chris is feeling the same. It seems like just yesterday we were trying to figure out just how tight is tight enough to keep our little baby safe in the car seat—now we throw him in, yank it tight, and tell him it’s time to go—and it’s already time to find a new seat!
Dr. Shearer said that crawling is considered any self-propelling towards a goal, and not just on hands and knees. By that definition, Mylo’s been crawling since the age of 6.5 months. She also said that with as determined as he seemed, he’ll probably be walking very soon!
We introduced chicken for the first time tonight that wasn’t pureed like his foods have been. Mylo wasn’t quite sure about the new development, but we thought it tasted good! Here’s a video of Mylo’s new obsession with self-feeding, and his feelings on chicken-apples ‘n’ celery.
