His very own big boy bed!

January 24, 2010

Since Lola is just around the corner, Chris and I decided that it would be best to teach Mylo to sleep without bars while he was still just across the hall. Today we decided, was the big day. So, while Mylo was taking a nap, Chris dug out all the parts to transform his crib into a toddler bed, and when Mylo woke up, we were ready with some excitement!
Mylo already loves watching Daddy do things, and is always excited to help, so he “helped” Chris put up the new small rails.
When the time came for his next nap in the afternoon, he was ready…all on his own. He ate lunch, got cleaned up, and while I was folding just one more load, he disappeared. I went to look for him, and found him sitting in his new bed, having a conversation with Na-nee (the bear). We gave him some milk, put on his sleeping bag, and a half-hour later with very little encouragement…sleeping! Cross your fingers that every night and nap time is this smooth!

Mylo’s adventures

Text from Chris: YOUR son just locked himself in the bathroom
Text from Holli: did you get him out?
Chris: nope still in there
Holli: can you use a pin in the keyhole or are we going to bust down the door?
Chris: I think I will just leave him in there

At which point, it became necessary to call and make sure that Chris was just pulling my leg. He was. Mylo had locked the door and when Chris got in, was playing around in one of the drawers that he’s not supposed to be in. Little monkey. I think he’s Chris’s son today.

Mylo still isn’t so sure about snow, and we think it’s a fair assumption that he loves it in the way Chris does: in the mountains and not where we live. I was sad to not have a white Christmas after being spoiled for the last two years, though.

Mylo loved the Christmas tree, and the bell ornaments that we had—a second life for left over wedding favors! Chris thinks that plenty of angels got their wings this season, thanks to our little bell ringer. The first day we had the Christmas decorations up, Mylo walked out into the living room, looked up at the shelf and said, “Oooohhh.” I told him they were pretty, and unlike any other word, I never had to repeat that. He nodded, then looked at the tree and told me, “Pety.” Since then, ‘pretty’ is a big part of his growing vocabulary.

Grandpa Don and Nana Angie gave Mylo a vacuum, and I’m pretty sure this is his “Heeeeelllllll, yeah!” face.

All we’re missing is the monkey with his hands over his eyes and the other one with his hands over his mouth. Mylo’s got the selective hearing market cornered!
